EDC believes in giving well-rounded training to all of our dancers but the reason we offer a competitive program is a simple one.  We want to give these dancers with their own hopes and dreams opportunities outside of what our small community can offer.  Competition motivates, challenges, inspires, and advances their learning experience.  These competitions are here to help them recognize the growth in themselves as an individual dancer and as a team dancer and not necessarily to create tension or a divide between them and other dance groups.  The overall experience celebrates their shared love of dance and creates unity and a bond that is irreplaceable.  

These teams will travel to two regional competitions a season. These classes are for the committed dancer looking to advance themselves as a performer and be pushed to new heights.  Dancers have high standards to meet and maintain to be in these classes and must audition or be recommended by a teacher to gain admittance.  These classes should be taken seriously and dancers are expected to practice for these classes outside of the studio and come in every week prepared for new material.  

How do we join the team?

Current students will get an invitation from a teacher as we believe that dancers are auditioning each week in class by demonstrating good attendance, their commitment to their practice, their level of respect for their teachers and fellow classmates, and their overall performance level.  

2023 Competition Results

There is SO MUCH more that these dancers get out of going to competition besides trophies and awards BUT I do believe they all deserve the recognition for their wonderful achievements that we are so proud of!

NATIONALS

We had our first TRDC NATIONALS adventure this summer. 5 of our dancers were invited to be a part of The Royal Dance Competition’s National Team ‘The Reign’. 3 of them took the leap at this opportunity and ventured to Cape Cod this past week and had an incredible time and performed their hearts out. They had such an awesome time I’m sure we will be back again in the future! I’m so so proud of them and all they accomplished this last season including these amazing accolades from this week:

2022 Competition Results

This past season Empire Dance Company brought 15 routines to the BREAKOUT and ROYAL stage and I could not be more proud of them! After a couple of odd competition seasons because of COVID it was amazing to get back to the exciting competition experience we all know and love. Each dancer put in hours of work in the studio and tried with every ounce of their hearts to perform their best and you could feel it when they took the stage. I am going to list the results and the awards they took home below, and although the list is impressive, competition is so much more than awards! Its about the full experience: the feeling of being so scared but doing it anyway; the feeling of being needed by your teammates; pushing past what you thought your limit was; the rush of being under the bright lights and hearing your music blast through the speakers; the excitement of hearing the judge’s call your name; watching the other dancers from other studios and coming back more inspired than ever; wanting something so bad and working as hard as you can to achieve it; and being grateful for your support system to give you this opportunity and being humbled that you get to do what you love today thanks to them! All of this builds their confidence to grow to become better dancers, performers, teammates and eventually well-rounded adults. I’m so proud of these dancers’ performances and so happy they were able to take their dance to the next level by pushing themselves to do their best.
