What you need to know to prepare for class:
  1. Please have your dancer wear comfortable athletic wear with their hair pulled back off their face.
  2. Please carry your dance shoes into the studio. Do not wear them in from the car or parking lot. They should be clean, indoor shoes that will not leave dirt or residue on our dance floor. See Shoes & Attire to read more about classwear.
  3. One of our new rules due to Covid-19 will be that our waiting room is closed to reduce capacity in our space. If you want to enter the space with your dancer to help get them situated that is OK but please wear a mask at all times. Please exit the studio at the start of class.
  4. Please have dancers arrive only 5 minutes before class and wear a mask to enter the studio. They will be directed to place their belongings in a designated area, sanitize or wash their hands, take their shoes to their socially distanced dance spot, and put on their shoes in their spot. At that point they are welcome to leave their mask on or if they choose to dance without a mask they can then remove their mask at the start of class and leave it on the corner of their space. All staff will instruct with their mask on and are at liberty to remove them while demonstrating choreography. Please respect everyone’s individual decision in class as both are allowed. At the end of class they will put their masks back on if they removed them while dancing, sanitize or wash their hands, collect their belongings and leave the studio. Please be on time to pick your dancer up at the door. If you expect to be late the best way to reach me will be through text (518) 572-6625 to let me know.
  5. Please read the below to see additional safety precautions we are taking here at EDC.
Effective July 6, recreational indoor activities are permitted in NY with the following protocols that Empire Dance Company will be following:

1.  Limiting capacity to no more than 50% of the maximum occupancy.  Our waiting room will be closed to allow more dancers to participate in class.
2.  Ensuring 6 ft. distance between individuals at all times unless safety or core practices require a shorter distance.  If a shorter distance is required, individuals must wear face coverings, unless participants are unable to tolerate such a covering for the physical activity; provided, however, that individuals not directly engaged in the activity will be required to wear a face covering.  Face masks are welcomed during all activities if that is what suits your family best.  Masks should be provided by the individual and not the studio.  Face coverings are recommended during entering and exiting the studio.
3.  Employees will be wearing face coverings during check-in at our front desk.
4. There will be signage and distance markers denoting spaces of 6 ft. in all commonly used areas.
5. Individuals not participating in sports or recreation activities must wear appropriate face coverings when they are within 6 ft, of other individuals.
6. Employees will wear face coverings when interacting with individuals regardless of distance except when demonstrating choreography,
7. We have adjusted our schedule to enable enhanced cleaning and disinfecting procedures between classes.  We are adhering to hygiene and sanitation requirements from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Department of Health (DOH) and will maintain cleaning logs on site that document date, time, and scope of cleaning. We will conduct regular cleaning and disinfection and more frequent cleaning and disinfection of shared objects and surfaces.
8. We will provide and maintain a hygiene station with alcohol based hand sanitizer containing 60% or more alcohol and will have hand soap and paper towels located in the bathroom for proper hand washing.
9.  We will limit the use of shared objects and surfaces or when in contact with those surfaces will direct students to sanitize their hands before and after use.
10.  We will implement a mandatory health screening assessment for employees to complete before every shift of work.
11.  We will take attendance and have a log for visitors to sign upon entering the studio for contact tracing purposes.
12.  We highly recommend assessing the health of yourself and your child before entering the studio.  If any symptoms are present that indicate one has fallen ill, please refrain from entering the studio.
13. Air purifiers with zero ozone emissions will be running during opening hours to remove toxins and particles containing viruses.
